Arts Council Legislation

The British Columbia Arts Council was established by provincial legislation in 1995 as an independent agency to support arts and culture in B.C. through funding and other programs. Specifically, the Arts Council Act empowers the Council to provide support for the arts and cultural community in B.C., opportunities for people to participate in the arts, and an open, accountable and impartially administered process for managing provincial funds.
