Banff Centre Production Residencies for B.C. Artists

(View Essential Information)

Introduction

On February 3, 2008, the BC Arts Council and The Banff Centre announced a three-year partnership to support Banff Centre Production Residencies for B.C. Artists. One Production Residency per year for 2008, 2009 and 2010 will be awarded for up to twelve people. The Residency offers travel, transportation, accommodation, meals, and the use of a Banff Centre theatre space with theatre production staff for up to two weeks.

Description

The purpose of Production Residencies is to allow selected artists to integrate and refine the production elements of a new work which has already completed its initial stages of development.

Individuals, companies, collectives, ensembles and organizations eligible for support under BC Arts Council programs in the professional disciplines of music, dance or theatre, may apply for Banff Centre Production Residencies for B.C. Artists.

Application Procedure

Under normal circumstances, the applicant will be applying for or in receipt of, BC Arts Council support for the same production that is proposed for the residency.

The application consists of a cover letter with a brief application form including support material and a budget related to the production residency specifically.

Banff Centre Production Residency proposals will be considered by discipline-specific project juries.

The application may refer to the applicant’s submission for project or operating assistance as context for the request for residency.

Criteria for Selection

Artistic excellence is the primary assessment criterion. The other criteria for selection are the availability and suitability of the Banff Centre resources for the proposed residencies.
