November 7 - PROVINCE FUNDS NEW OPPORTUNITIES FOR B.C. ARTISTS
VICTORIA – The Province is providing $350,000 in grants to 20 arts organizations to support their participation in significant cultural events like the Cultural Olympiad, announced Tourism, Culture and the Arts Minister Bill Bennett.

VANCOUVER – Country Music Week 2008 officially came to a close with last night’s live airing of the Canadian Country Music Awards in Winnipeg, and now Vancouver is poised to host Canada’s largest annual country music event in 2009, announced Tourism, Culture and the Arts Minister Bill Bennett.

VICTORIA – The newest members of the British Columbia Arts Council have been selected, and veteran leadership has been reappointed, announced Tourism, Culture and the Arts Minister Bill Bennett.

August 12 - SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM BENEFITS B.C. ARTS STUDENTS
VICTORIA – Eighty-four B.C. arts students will receive a total of over $200,000 in the upcoming school year thanks to the BC Arts Council scholarship program, Tourism, Culture and the Arts Minister Bill Bennett announced.

VANCOUVER – British Columbians are celebrating B.C.’s vibrant arts and cultural community during this, the ninth annual Arts and Culture Week, Tourism, Sport and the Arts Minister Stan Hagen announced today, during a visit to Vancouver’s ArtStarts Gallery.

March 19 - BC150 SUPPORTS COMMUNITY ARTS
VICTORIA – A partnership between BC150 and the Assembly of BC Arts Councils is offering a $190,000 grant program to support community and regional arts activities, announced Tourism, Sport and the Arts Minister Stan Hagen.

March 11 - A FIVE-YEAR HIGH FOR B.C.’S DOMESTIC FILM PRODUCTION
VICTORIA – British Columbia remains a strong contender in film and television production, with a record year in domestic film production, announced Tourism, Sport and the Arts Minister Stan Hagen today. BC Film Commission statistics show film and television production in British Columbia contributed $943 million to the provincial economy in 2007.

March 1 - $50,000 GRANT BOOSTS FRENCH FESTIVAL’S JOIE DE VIVRE
MAILLARDVILLE – Minister of Tourism, Sport and the Arts Stan Hagen presented a $50,000 grant to the city of Coquitlam and Le Festival du Bois on behalf of the Province for le Village de la Francophonie.

February 29 - NELSON CONCERT BAND OFF TO BEIJING CULTURAL OLYMPIAD
VICTORIA – An award winning concert band from L.V. Rogers secondary school in Nelson will take part in the Beijing Cultural Olympiad next month with help from a $50,000 provincial grant, announced Stan Hagen, Minister of Tourism, Sport and the Arts.
