BRITISH COLUMBIANS HONOURED AT THE GG LITERARY AWARDS

MONTREAL – Three writers with BC roots are winners of the 2009 Governor General’s Literary Awards, announced on November 17, 2009 by the Canada Council for the Arts.

B.C. winners include Vancouver playwright Kevin Loring, whose Where the Blood Mixes was selected in the Drama category, Cranbrook native Kate Pullinger, who won fiction honours with her book The Mistress of Nothing, and David Zieroth of North Vancouver, whose The Fly in Autumn won for poetry.

Harbour Publishing of Madeira Park published Zieroth’s book while Loring’s script was released by Vancouver’s Talonbooks. The BC Arts Council regularly funds both publishers.

The Governor General’s Literary Awards, Canada’s oldest literary awards, are funded and administered by the Canada Council.
