General

The BC Arts Council believes that vibrant arts and cultural communities are central to the creation of a healthy society. Arts and cultural organizations are an essential aspect of the foundation for artists to create, produce, present and disseminate their work.

The Council has a range of programs designed to provide support to professional arts and cultural organizations throughout the province. Along with funding for theatre, music, dance, visual, media and literary arts organizations, the Council also has programs to support community arts organizations, festivals, museums, training and service agencies.

There are two kinds of funding programs: Operating, which provides annual grants to established organizations, and Project, which are one-time grants that target a specific production, exhibition or project.

The BC Arts Council currently supports more than 250 arts organizations each year.
