Today the BC Arts Council is pleased to be administering $14 million through additional resilience supplements to arts and culture organizations across the province.

The funding comes through StrongerBC: BC’s Economic Recovery Plan and is in addition to the $21 million in support that was announced by the B.C. Government in September 2020. The funding is being distributed to 588 organizations. Funding for arts and culture under StrongerBC now totals $35M in 2020/21.

The additional $14 million in funding recognizes that the arts and culture sector in B.C. has continued to face high unemployment and reduced revenue generating opportunities. This new funding provides special consideration for performing arts organizations, regional organizations, and those that operate facilities. The funds will support organizations to:

  • Mitigate risk of insolvencies;
  • Retain cultural workforce and generate job opportunities; and
  • Develop capacity to prepare for reopening and welcoming back artists and audiences.

Organizations will not need to apply for the supplement and will receive direct notification about the funding today.
