BC Arts Council launches engagement to shape its future priorities, strategy and action plan
The BC Arts Council (BCAC) is inviting the arts and culture sector in British Columbia to provide feedback to help shape its future priorities, strategy, and action plan.
From June 8 to July 31, artists, arts and cultural organizations, service organizations, and sector partners are encouraged to share their perspectives through an online survey and written submissions, with further focused engagement sessions planned for the fall.
“As a musician myself, I know firsthand the importance of supporting arts and culture. Arts and culture play a vital role in building strong, vibrant communities throughout British Columbia. We are pleased to support artists and organizations through the BC Arts Council to bring this work to life,” said Anne Kang, Minister of Tourism, Arts, Culture and Sport. “I encourage artists, organizations, and communities to share their ideas and help shape the future direction of arts and culture in B.C.”
As the provincial agency responsible for investing in and supporting arts and cultural activities throughout B.C., BCAC is undertaking this engagement to ensure its priorities, programs, and funding approaches reflect the needs, opportunities, and realities of the sector into the future.
Feedback gathered will directly inform the development of BCAC’s Strategy and Action Plan and help advance its Renewed Strategic Vision for the future of arts and culture in British Columbia:
“This is a chance to listen deeply and think differently about how we support creativity in B.C.,” said Marnie Hamaganie, BC Arts Council Interim Chair. “The insights we hear will help spark new approaches and strengthen how we work alongside the sector in the years ahead.”
